    NOW HIRING an Assistant Service Manager for our Electric Power Systems team.

    Responsibilities

    H.O. Penn Machinery Company, the Caterpillar Equipment dealer for lower NY and all of CT is looking for an Assistant Service Manager - Electric Power Generation - for our Bronx, NY location. 

     

    Reporting to the EPG Service Manager, you will be responsible for the following: 

     

    Assist Service Manager in successfully delivering and selling service of recognized superior value by providing necessary key resources (people, materials, tooling and time)

    • Oversee the performance of and manage a team of Electric Power Generator Field Technicians that cover the NY Metro territory 

    • Effectively communicate with customers, vendors and technicians 

    • Generate growth through service sales, resolve issues, and report out on job scope and technician availability 

     

    Assist Service Manager with daily operations to maximize the effective and efficient use of the service processes

    • Effectively manage department operations

    • Continually monitor, measure and improve processes

    • Forecast and budget resource to satisfy forecasts

    • Advise the Service Manager of changes in available work vs. staffing levels

    • Ensure jobs are processed and billed on a daily basis

       

    Staff and develop people to achieve all key results

    • Build & maintain an environment characterized by high productivity and high morale

    • Select and hire generator technicians 

    • Effectively manage employee performance

    • Develop people to consistently achieve or exceed job expectations

    • Ensure a culture of safety through ongoing communication and timely completion of safety initiatives and reinforcing safe work habits

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    *This position requires off hour on call availability, including weekends and holidays**

    • Minimum 5 years' management experience in directing labor; will consider equivalent combination of 2-year degree and work experience

    • Strong computer skills and comfortable with new technology in order to manage service communications and related business

    • Must possess strong operational and technical skills

    • Must possess strong communication skills (both verbal and written)

    • EPG experience with troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment (generator, ATS, switchgear) AC/DC, and diesel engine troubleshooting and repair preferred/a plus
